About / Introduction

Live sound specialist and creative coordinator with over two decades of experience across festivals, gigs, and community events. From FOH mixing to crew leadership, I bring warmth, precision, and a deep respect for the artists and audiences I serve.

Where it all started ...

in early 2000 I was seconded by Barnsley Council as a 'Live Music Development Worker' to organise and run an outdoor concert as part of their Millennium events initiative. This involved putting together a music promoter's group of local artists and businesses for weekly meetings that led towards an outdoor festival in Mandela Gardens (with extra gigs at 3 local venues in the evening).Although I was only contracted for 6 months I continued to run events and local festivals up to 2004 raising funding and volunteers to help promote Barnsley's music and creative arts scene.

Then came BOMfest ...

From 2005 until 2011 I initally stepped away from events while another group of musicians and promoters 'BOM' - Barnsley Original Music set up with something bigger in mind. I handed over the event manual but I couldnt resist staying involved.I began as a steward, then head steward, then stage manager, and event videographer (see links). I got to perform a few times (with Skinboat) but in the end I enjoyed a roving, supportive, safety role.

On the side / other ...

The Upstairs Room above the Fealty & Firkin in the early to mid 00s. We had a few years running weekly gigs and DJ events - some local some not so local ...I began as a sound engineer at the student union before working for college, and once I started working for college I did the sound and ran the college music performances (at various venues over the years). The Upstairs was a great opportunity to let students get involved and gain experience on the desk and setting up the bands.
